“The IAF also highlighted the ways in which my research on structural factors that influence psychosocial health among gender and sexually marginalized populations could contribute to policy analysis and public discourse related to employment non-discrimination policy and efforts to establish an office of LGBT health within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,” Graham says. During the Kaiser Permanente Burch Minority Leadership Development program, Graham will focus on a number of initiatives, including:
- Working to establish and maintain connections with policymakers engaged in the development of social and economic policy to end health disparities among low-income black and Latino communities;
- Disseminating social determinants of health research findings to inform the development of LGBT health related policy;
- Seek training in the development of policy briefs and legislative tracking;
- Leverage opportunities to better understand best-practices for more closely linking research and policy development within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or U.S. Congressional caucuses and committees.
“I am honored to be included among such an accomplished group doing such great work,” Graham adds.
