Freedson to receive distinguished service award from Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

Patty FreedsonPatty Freedson, Professor and Chair of the Department of Kinesiology, will receive an award for distinguished service to the university community by the UMass Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She will be honored at the chapter’s annual induction ceremony for new members being held on April 14, 2013.

“Dr. Freedson was selected for her outstanding and excellent accomplishments in teaching, mentoring, research, and service to both the University and the profession,” says Dr. Donald Katzner, Professor of Economics and President of the UMass Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.

“I am honored to receive this award from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.  I have been a faculty member at UMass for my whole career and have enjoyed working at this great university.  I am truly grateful to receive this distinguished service award recognizing many years of service to UMass.”

Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
