Running Fatigue Study

The Biomechanics Lab at UMass Amherst is looking for research volunteers for a master's thesis project. We are looking for regular runners, both men and women. Specifically:

  • 18 to 45 years old
  • Using a rearfoot strike (landing on your heel when you run)
  • No recent injuries or surgeries that affect your running
  • Currently running between 12 and 50 miles per week

The study requires two visits to the Biomechanics Lab, separated by 3 to 5 days. The first visit will  last approximately 1 hours and the second should last between 1.5 and 2 hours.

Benefits: Volunteers will receive information about their lactate threshold and VO2 max values, which are helpful training tools. The researchers will also provide volunteers with a detailed analysis of their unique running form.
