Giving Opportunities
Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends,
The Environmental Health Sciences strives to strengthen its standing as a nationally competitive, major research and teaching program. In doing so, we also strengthen our ability to provide a valuable service to the commonwealth, the nation, and the world. We do this through innovating and growing our programs, equipping our labs and teaching spaces with the latest technology has to offer, hiring the best educators and researchers, and attracting a bright and diverse group of students. There are several ways that you can participate in supporting the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, and we are grateful for all contributions.
Financial Contributions
Your gift has many benefits. It helps us provide students with a superb education and it helps talented students who would not otherwise be able to attend UMass Amherst. Because we are part of a public university system, budgeting dictates that we increase our partnership with private donors, the business sector and foundations. Your annual support of our programs helps us continue to provide our students with the excellent education that has enabled our graduates to have outstanding careers. Your annual support of our scholarships enables us to attract the very best students in a competitive recruiting environment.
I invite you to consider the tax deductible Giving Options that are available to you:
The Corinne A. Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Named after 1980 graduate of SPHHS who achieved much in a shortened life, the Fund was created by friends, family and colleagues at General Electric to provide scholarships recognizing exceptional students in the Department of Public Health with demonstrated interests in Environmental Health Sciences.
The scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and/or graduate students with a preference for awarding two equal scholarships each academic year, one each to a man and a woman.
Preferences will be given to those who exhibit the qualities and spirit of Corinne A. Johnson, including a commitment to community service, volunteerism and leadership.
We hope that you will join us in honoring Corinne Johnson by making a gift to this endowed scholarship fund. To support this effort, please click here.
Stewart Fellowship Fund
Established by Dr. James Stewart ’74 to provide scholarships to graduate students interested in enrolling in the master’s and/or doctoral program in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences. The Fellowship supports a student for one or more years. Students are accepted on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.
We hope that you will join Dr. Stewart’s efforts in providing financial assistance to graduate students in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences by making a gift to this endowed scholarship fund. To support this effort, please click here.
