Meet Your CSS Peer Advisor
Hello everyone! My name is Sally Cotter and I am a senior Public Health major from Downers Grove, Illinois. I am so excited to work as a SPHHS Center for Student Success Peer Advisor because I love sharing my passion for public health and UMass! I came to UMass as a declared Public Health student with an interest in pre-medicine, which quickly evolved into an interest in women's health and interpersonal violence prevention. I love the UMass Public Health major because of its uniqueness and the ability to customize the major to one's interests within health!
I got involved with peer advising working with incoming freshman and transfer students at new students orientation (NSO) the summer of 2017 and during the fall 2017 semester. This past spring semester, I spent traveling around Australia and New Zealand and I'm so excited to be back at UMass for my senior year! Outside of peer advising, I am involved with the Center for Women and Community on campus as an information & referral specialist. I also work for Residence Hall Security as an area supervisor.
My advice for all students is to not be afraid to explore the many majors, programs, and classes offered at UMass, within the 5-colleges, and abroad in order to find an academic path that you are truly passionate about. I would also advise all students to get involved on campus as well as in the community and to take advantage of the great resources and opportunities that are accessible to UMass Students.
