The University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Department of Communication Disorders is looking for English Speaking children to participate in research studies on language development through the Sounds2Syntax Laboratory, directed by Dr. Jill Hoover.
We are looking for:
1) Children with typical speech, language and hearing skills who are between the ages of 3;0 and 6;11 and speak only English.
2) Children with language impairment who are between the ages of 4;0 and 6;11. Children with language impairment must have normal hearing, communicate verbally and not have a co-occurring diagnosis of intellectual disability.
All children will be asked to complete a battery of 1) standardized measures assessing speech, language and cognition and 2) experimental computer tasks designed to assess vocabulary and grammar. Studies require children to attend 4 sessions (approximately 75 minutes in length) in the Sounds2Syntax Laboratory located in Arnold House on the UMass Amherst Campus. Children will receive small toys or books at the end of each session as compensation for their participation. If interested, please call: 413-545-3177 or email the Sounds2Syntax Laboratory (firstname.lastname@example.org), or Dr. Jill Hoover (email@example.com).
