Professional Organizations
The two major national professional organizations to which graduates of our program belong are the American Public Health Association and the Society for Public Health Education. We strongly encourage all of our students to join both.
APHA and SOPHE hold their major annual meeting in the fall, usually the first week of November. APHA is attended by more 12,000 members each year. The Health Education section of APHA is the second largest section in the entire organization. Among many other benefits, APHA has an excellent job bank.
SOPHE’s annual meeting is scheduled in conjunction with APHA, to make it easy for members to attend both meetings. SOPHE’s annual meeting is more intimate, typically 300-400 participants, with great opportunities for professional networking. SOPHE also holds a mid-year scientific conference. SOPHE provides strong professional support for all its members, and it is the place that we call home.
