Lan Ba is a junior nutrition and psychology double major. Lan left her home in China to attend high school in Florida in 2013. Currently, she volunteers at Amherst Survival center, a none profit organization that provides resources to people regardless of there age, gender and immigration status. Working as a Career Ambassador for the SPHHS, she looks forward to helping her fellow students to discover their career paths by providing comprehensive advising on their resumes and cover letters.
Eileen Baah grew up in Ghana, West Africa and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health with two minor certificates in sociology and education. She believes that greatness is not what we achieve for ourselves but what we inspire in others. Therefore, she’s involved in various service-driven roles including a campus coordinator position for Teach for America, peer mentor, commencement ambassador, and the vice-president of Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Eileen enjoys singing, movies, arts and crafts, traveling, yoga and eating eggs! She decided to take on the SPHHS career ambassador role because she loves giving advice and guidance, especially when it entails preparing for the next steps. She’s deeply grateful to have mentors and loved ones who give her fruitful counsel in life, hence in return she wants to also serve as a guidance to others and is very excited to partake in her new role as a career ambassador.
Deveyn Clancy grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and will be graduating in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health, minors in Sociology and Psychology, and a certificate in Social Work and Social Welfare. This past summer she interned at Broadspire insurance where she worked as a medical claim analyst. Deveyn is looking forward to expressing her creative and personable side by working with peers to help create resumes and cover letters as a Career Ambassador. She believes that this role will not only help her to get better aquainted with others in her major, but also be a learning experience to better prepare herself for her job search after graduation.
Luiza Froes is a native Cape Codder (who also speaks Portuguese!) and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition May 2019. Over the summer, her recent internship with UMass Extension allowed her to experience the importance of nutrition with children at an early age, which shows that endeavors for a healthy lifestyle is never too soon to pick up. While not working with kids anymore, she helps fellow UMass students with resume and cover letter advice as a Career Ambassador for SPHHS. Luiza has always believed in planning and preparing for the future in individualized manners, and being able to provide one-on-one advice will enhance her counseling skills for her future as a Registered Dietician.
Rachel is from New York and will graduate May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition. She is looking forward to being a Career Ambassador and helping fellow students with their resumes and cover letters. As a graduating student, herself, she understands how challenging it can be to prepare for life after college and wants to make this task easier for others by providing career advice. When she is not working as a Career Ambassador, she spends her time volunteering with Alpha Phi Omega, a community service organization at UMass Amherst.
