Mokhtar Atallah Appointed Nutrition Department Acting Head

Professor Mokhtar Atallah was appointed to serve as Acting Head of the Department of Nutrition for the coming year effective September 1, 2007. Dr. Atallah has been a faculty member in the department since 1976.  He has served the department in many capacities over the years including as Undergraduate Program Director, Graduate Program Director, and a prior term as Acting Head.  He is well known to the campus community as a teacher and scholar and as a key member of numerous committees and councils of the Faculty Senate, including the Academic Matters Council and the General Education Council.  A member of the American Society of Nutrition, Dr. Atallah’s research focuses on different forms of fiber in the diet and their relationship to trace mineral status.
