Assistant Professor in Epidemiology

Tenure Track Position

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (www.umass.edu/sphhs/) is seeking applicants for a tenure track position in Epidemiology at the Assistant Professor level.

Position:  The successful candidate will join the faculty in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Department of Public Health.  Responsibilities will include research; teaching, primarily at the graduate level; and advising masters and doctoral students enrolled in MS, MPH and PhD programs.  Candidates will be expected to develop their own research program and engage in collaborative research.  The Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology consists of five epidemiologists and eight biostatisticians actively engaged in research and teaching.  Program members collaborate extensively with faculty from the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, other departments on campus, the University’s Medical School, and Baystate Medical Center.  Present areas of epidemiologic research include cancer, genomics, nutrition, and reproductive health.  The University is located in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, which is home to five colleges (Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College and the University of Massachusetts) with easy access to several major metropolitan areas.

Qualifications:  Candidates for the position must meet the following requirements:

First Review:  The application review process will begin October 15, 2007 and will continue until the position is filled.  Anticipated start date is September, 2008.
