Hillary Gardner is a lecturer of Catalan at UMass, Amherst. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley where she studied at the Universitat de Barcelona in the Education Abroad Program. After living and teaching in Barcelona, she returned to the U.S. for graduate studies and completed her MFA at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She is currently collaborating with the playwright and actress Lara Diéz Quintanilla on a translation of her play Herència abandonada, which will be featured on the CatalanDrama website hosted by Sala Beckett at: https://www.catalandrama.cat/llengua/angles/
In addition to Catalan, Hillary speaks Spanish and French. She has taught English and ESOL instructors for civics education programs, most recently through The City University of New York. She continues to collaborate on special language learning initiatives for a global citizenry, and is proud to be an ongoing advisor to The Literacy Review annual workshops organized by Literacy Project of the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU.
