Jenny Folsom is a doctoral student in the sociology department. Her interests include qualitative and quantitative methods with an emphasis on race and ethnicity, collective memory, the African Diaspora in Belgium, and colonial history in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi. Her current work includes an analysis of memory politics at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren, Belgium, and archival research on Congolese testimonies from the “Commission of Inquiry” archives from the Congo Free State circa 1905-06. Jenny is also preparing a comparative memory project between the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Belgium and the National Museum of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
