Dan Lainer-Vos received his Ph.D. in sociology from Columbia University. His dissertation centers on nationalism studied through the prism diaspora communities (Irish Americans and Jewish Americans). By examining instances of contacts between diaspora groups and homeland communities, he traces the technologies and discursive mechanism that enable these “fragments” of the nation to cooperate and create flows of resources that are essential to the existence of national movements. Dani grew up in Israel and earned his bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Ben-Gurion University.
