Creating an RSO
Creating your own Registered Student Organization is a great way to get involved on campus and build your own community in Umass Amherst. An RSO is a student group on campus that is registered with and recognized by the university and the SGA. Being registered means that you have the support of the university with the hopes that you thrive as a student run organization. The first steps to creating an RSO is as easy as finding your passion and finding 10 people with that same passion who are willing to join.
Registered Student Organizations that have an active fee account can apply to receive emergency funding from the SGA’s Finance Committee. This allocation is meant to provide funding that will ensure an RSO will not have to cancel an event that is vital to their mission due to unforeseen circumstances.
Please fill out the SGA Finance Packet and the Finance Allocation Request Form (found on Campus Pulse) and email them with an image of your RSO’s FY16 SGA Budget Fee Account page to the Chair of the Finance Committee, Jessica Williams (email@example.com). Once the Chair has received your completed documents she will schedule you a hearing before the committee where members of your RSO will present on their requested funding. If the allocation is over $750 then there will be a second presentation required at the next meeting of the SGA Senate (Mondays at 7 pm).
