During the fall of 1999, the Campus Committee for Organizational Restructuring (CCOR) identified several candidate processes for potential review. Those nominations were forwarded to the Chancellor's Executive Advisory Council (CEAC) for final consideration in the spring of 2000. From CCOR's recommended candidates, CEAC has selected six:
· Business Service Delivery
· Chemical Management System for the Life Cycle
of Chemicals
· Ground Transportation
· Building Coordinators
· Duplicating/Printing Services
· Space Design and Office Furnishing
This new set of SFE projects follows the initial group selected in the spring of 1998. The original descriptions for the first group of SFE projects are provided below:
· Review of Small-Scale Renovation and Construction Projects
· Feasibility of Establishing a Travel Services Office
· Graduate Student Assistant Appointment Process
· Review of Legislative Mandates
· Interventions to Assist Entering High Risk Undergraduate
Students
Under the auspices of SFE, the campus has pursued other projects focused on improving the quality of academic support services and other key University functions. The original descriptions of these ongoing projects are available below:
· Student Information System and Process Review
· Communications and Marketing Strategic Planning
Please submit your ideas for other areas in which the University can improve services, streamline processes, or become better stewards of our resources. Suggestions may be submitted to sfe@chancellor.umass.edu and should include a brief description of the identified area, a listing of the various institutional units involved, and a short statement about why a review would be beneficial at this time.
The Campus Committee for Organizational Restructuring (CCOR) will periodically evaluate candidates for review and then make recommendations to the Chancellor's Executive Advisory Council (CEAC). Once a process is approved for review by CEAC, a project sponsor, project team, and team leader are identified to guide the review effort. After an inclusive process of quantitative and qualitative inquiry, the project team prepares a change proposal.
