Business Service Delivery

Sponsors: Cora Marrett, Senior Vice Chancellor and Provost
Paul Page, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance

Employees located in individual departments and other units have traditionally carried out administrative processes on the Amherst Campus. As the campus moves toward the implementation of new administrative systems to support financial, human resources and student systems, it is a good opportunity to assess the organization of administrative structures on campus to determine if alternative organizational arrangements might better support administrative functions.

Several institutions have established business centers to support groups of organizational units. Such arrangements provide dedicated knowledgeable staff to handle administrative matters. Institutions have found that the quality of administrative support is enhanced, training is more effective since it is targeted to individuals who are engaged more directly and frequently in processes and employees working in these units are more satisfied with their work and internal and external relationships.

This project will assess the current organization structure that supports administrative functions throughout the campus and evaluate the feasibility of establishing strategically deployed business centers.
