The following book may be of interest to some subscribers:

Manuel da Costa Fontes, *The Art of Subversion in Inquisitorial Spain: Rojas and Delicado,* PSRL 30, West Lafayette, Indiana: Purdue University Press, 2004. xiv + 346 pp. 1-55753-348-2 Paper $44.95.

Fernando de Rojas’s /Celestina/ (1499) and Francisco Delicado’s /La Lozana andaluza/ (1530) were written during the height of the Inquisition, when the only relatively safe way for New Christian writers of Jewish extraction like Rojas and Delicado to express what they felt about the discrimination they suffered and their doubts regarding the faith that had been forced upon their ancestors was to do so in a covert, indirect manner. Some scholars have detected this subversive element in Rojas’s and Delicado’s corrosive view of the Christian societies in which they lived, but this book goes far beyond such suggestions, showing through abundant textual evidence that these two authors used superficial bawdiness and claims regarding the morality of their respective works as cover to encode attacks against the central dogmas of Christianity: the Annunciation, the Virgin Birth, the Incarnation, and the Holy Trinity.

This book, which will generate controversy among Hispanists, will be of interest not only to students and scholars of Spanish literature, but also to those involved in Jewish studies, medieval European history, and cultural studies.

6. New Documentary: Forced Radiation of Mizrahi Children - Ringworm Affair on U.S. T.V. (Dahbany-Miraglia)

From: end apartheid <end2apartheid(at)yahoo.com>

From the David Shasha List:

Friends,

I have seen the documentary "The Ringworm Children" and will be preparing my review over the weekend.

The documentary discusses the forced radiation by the Ashkenazi Israeli authorities of over 100,000 North African Jewish immigrant children in the 1950s which led to a health disaster of great magnitude for the immigrants and their children.  Many of these children have either died or have had serious health problems over the decades since the treatments were administered.

The matter continues to remain unresolved as those who have received these lethal treatments remain unable to see their medical records.

There are a few more screenings of the film and I again advise all our readers to make sure to see this very important historical document that  discusses the racism of the Zionist authorities against Sephardic Jews in  Israel.

For all those who continue to believe that such Ashkenazi racism is a thing of the past, the documentary will come as a shock and is guaranteed to disturb you.

The following is a list of the remaining showtimes on Link TV which is available on Dish Network and DirecTV.

 http://www.linktv.org/programming/programDescription.php4?code=ringworm

As a reminder for those who may have missed the first showings, the documentary will be rebroadcast next week.

The showings for the film are:

March 16-17 Midnight

March 17 6:00 AM

March 17 6:00 PM

LINK TV is broadcast on DirecTV channel 375 and Dish Network channel 9410
