What are our our students saying?

"One might think that since electricity and magnetism is such a hands on topic that distance learning would not dovetail with it. I have found just the opposite to be true. The texts, materials, web sites, and discussions seem to be working very well, better than I would have thought possible. I continue to be amazed by the quality and the rigor of the online courses in this program. They are set up like I try to set up my classroom, you have to work hard, but if you do the work you can be successful."

"I enjoyed learning as much as I have over these past two months. Trying out experiments, finding and reviewing great web sites, opportunities for reflections, great texts, discussions with enthusiastic teachers, supportive and informative professors--its all been great, and seems over too soon."

"Distance learning has been beneficial mostly for me, because it has given me the ability to do the work on my own, come up with my own ideas and make my own mistakes, ie. Giving me the experience I feel is needed for me to be a better teacher (one of my goals)."

"I like what we are doing here where we are looking at some sound educational materials (NSTA) in a specific topic, and get firsthand experience with it as learners with guidance as we go along. It is a much better approach than being handed a resource and being expected to find the time to navigate it and utilize it in a quality manner when one has not had the time set aside and the support to learn it well, reflect upon it, and see where the MA Frameworks fit in."

"I also find the isolation from others when doing activities much more challenging but rewarding in the end. It gives you a sense of satisfaction when you finish an activity and then explain it in your journal like an expert. Admittedly, I was one who in a lab would kind of look around the room and see what others were doing. Now we have to work it through."

"I think this and the other two science courses I have taken so far have taught me more than concepts. My excitement for 'teaching' sharing what I know is stronger than it has been in years. I can't wait to get children in the classroom."
