The Faculty Senate hereby establishes the EXECUTIVE ADVISORY COUNCIL for a maximum duration of three years. Its charge shall be to:
1: Deliberate issues related to the future of the University of Massachusetts system, including possible reorganization, and especially focusing on the flagship campus at Amherst, and make appropriate recommendations to the Governor, Board of Trustees, and President;
2: Deliberate issues related to the senior leadership of the University of Massachusetts system and the flagship campus at Amherst, and make appropriate recommendations to the Governor, Board of Trustees, and President;
3: Ensure that established principles of shared governance are adhered to in all activities related to reorganization and selection of senior management at the system and campus level;
4: Ensure that honest, transparent, unmanipulated searches for senior leadership positions at both the system and campus levels are conducted whenever there is an opening at the level of senior management;
5: Conduct other related business that may properly come before the Council.
Its membership shall consist of:
a) The elected Rules Committee of the Faculty Senate;
b) The elected Executive Board of the Massachusetts Society of Professors;
c) The Chairs of all the Councils and Committees of the Faculty Senate;
d) Twelve at-large members from among the faculty, librarians and staff of the
University appointed by the Rules Committee;
e) A Representative of the Dean’s Council (chosen by the Rules Committee);
f) The Student Trustee;
g) The President of the Student Government Association;
h) The President of the Graduate Student Senate and Graduate Employee Organization;
i) One Representative each from the PSU, USA and AFSCME Local 1776 Unions,
j) The President of the UMA Foundation Board or designees (2);
k) The President of the UMA Alumni Association or designees (2);
l) Seven elected Legislators.
