On October 24, just a day before Stand for UMass Day in Boston, “Fox 25 Morning News” featured numerous UMass officials, faculty, students and organizations during a live four-hour broadcast of the from the lawn in front of Goodell Hall. The program was the latest edition of the weekly “Fox 25 College Tour,” highlighting six colleges and universities across Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
Host Elizabeth Hopkins conducted segments with: Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy; Vice Chancellor for University Relations John Kennedy; Sustainability Manager Ezra Small and Sustainability Coordinator Rachel Dutton; Minuteman Marching Band Director Timothy Anderson; Geckskin researchers Alfred Crosby and Duncan Irschick; Chef Anthony Jung of Dining Services; and Leo Sheehan '14, president of Theta Chi. Performances included the Minuteman Marching Band, student a capella group Vocal Suspects and dance team Dhadak Fusion. Previously taped segments that featured Minutemen ice hockey coach John Micheletto and various students were also aired. Sam the Minuteman and hundreds of students participated in the audience throughout the program, and food, beverages and activities were provided by UMass Dining Services and various program sponsors.
