SBS Welcomes New Director of Development
In March James F. Mallet ’91 joined the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences as director of development. Mallet is not new to the UMass Amherst campus, having begun his tenure with the advancement staff in 1998 as a leadership gifts officer, eventually moving into the director of development position for the Isenberg School of Management. His many responsibilities there included leading the effort that resulted in the school’s major building addition.
Subsequently, Mallet served as director of development for corporate relations in the central advancement office. His experience also includes twenty years in the printing and integrated advertising industries, most recently as regional vice president of sales and marketing with Videojet Corp., an international printing equipment manufacturer.
Mallet has been president of the University Without Walls Alumni Association here at UMass Amherst, as well as a member of the Friends of the Fine Arts Center board and a director of the Miller’s River Environmental Center. “Since moving into my new Draper Hall office,” says Mallet, “I have already had the pleasure of meeting a number of impressive SBS alumni. I know I’ll meet many more as I move forward with my development responsibilities. We are counting on alumni to ensure that our facilities and programs remain top notch.”
