Peter McAvoy '90 (STPEC) runs his car on your tater tots! The owner of ReEnergizer in Westfield, MA, he recycles vegetable oil from restaurants and converts it into biofuel. The company is looking to grow, and offers a unique concept: “Neighbors helping neighbors.”

ReEnergizer is encouraging restaurants to donate their oil for free. Then, the company tallies what they would have paid for the oil and donates that money to the Westfield public schools system. ReEnergizer will then recognize restaurants that donated through the company’s Facebook page and newsletters, and will encourage residents to frequent those restaurants. Basically, McAvoy said, it’s advertisement for the restaurants and a donation for the community.
