SBS Online Fellows Program—Spring 2013
Application Deadline: Friday, November 16, 2012
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is pleased to announce a new version of the College Online Fellows Program which has been in place since 2006.
Online Fellows Program
The Online Fellows Program is designed to encourage quality online teaching of General Education and other high-demand classes by providing Fellows with the support and skills to create and teach these courses. Fellows will have preference for three years to teach the courses that they have developed. During late fall and the spring semester of 2012-13, participants in the Fellows Program will
- participate in a total of four trainings/meetings with other Fellows and an experienced online instructor, Lisa Fontes, Ph.D., to discuss pedagogical and practical issues in the development of online courses
- receive training in online course development from Continuing and Professional Education
- develop an online course to be offered in the Summer or Fall of 2013
- teach their online course through Continuing and Professional Education in the Summer or Fall of 2013 for the usual CPE fees
Along with the recognition of being named College Online Fellows, and training and support for the development and teaching of an online course, participants will receive an additional $3,000 in compensation for teaching the course for the first time.
The courses to be developed must be high demand courses that have not been developed previously in the Online Fellows Program (see attached list of previously developed courses).
No previous experience with online course development or instruction is required. This program will provide an excellent opportunity to enhance technology skills and learn the basics of online instruction in a supportive and professional environment.
Applications for the program, which is open to faculty and advanced graduate students, are due Friday, November 16, 2012. Direct questions to Lisa Fontes, Ph.D., SBS Coordinator of Online Development.
