Gordon and Dolores Sutton Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Matthew Sutton ’86 (political science) and honors his parents; the late Gordon Sutton, former University of Massachusetts Amherst Professor of Sociology and alumna Dolores (Dee) Sutton ’78 (environmental design).

This scholarship provides financial support to undergraduate students who are attending the University after overcoming personal and/or financial hardship.

Eligibility: Preference is given to students in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrated financial need, determined by the UMass Amherst Financial Aid Office.

Selection: One award of up to $2,000 will be made. A selection committee reviews completed applications and chooses a recipient in the spring semester. This scholarship may be renewed.

Deadline to apply: Wednesday, March 9, 2016

The recipients of this award will be expected to:

  • Write a thank-you letter to Mr. Sutton
  • Attend the scholarship reception on Sunday, May 1, 2016
