Solt Selected for Boston Business Journal’s 2007 “40 Under 40” Award

Christine Solt

Christine G. Solt '92 (political science), chair of Choate, Hall & Stewart’s Health Care Practice Group, was chosen as one of 40 emerging business leaders for the Boston Business Journal’s (BBJ) 2007 “40 Under 40” award. The tenth annual award recognizes outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their business success and community contributions in the greater Boston area. This year’s winners will be honored at a special reception at the Copley Marriott Hotel on October 11.

Solt, 37, was singled out for this prestigious honor because of her high profile legal work and extensive community involvement. As chair of Choate’s nationally known health-care practice, Ms. Solt has built an impressive practice defending health-care companies in government investigations, providing regulatory and strategic planning advice to venture capital and private equity firms, and serving as outside general counsel to community and regional hospitals.

In the community, Solt spends approximately 250 hours a year as a volunteer member of the Human Research Committee (Institutional Review Board) at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a committee member since 2002, Solt helps decide if proposed clinical trials adequately protect the individuals who will participate in them and ensures that subjects understand the risk and benefits of participating in medical research.

Solt is also very active with UMass Amherst, serving as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2003. She is a founding member of the Board of Governors of the UMass Club downtown.

“Christine Solt is a remarkable young attorney both professionally and personally. Being named to the Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list is a big honor and we are proud of her accomplishment,” said William Gelnaw and John Nadas, co-managing partners of Choate, Hall & Stewart.

Honorees are selected by an editorial committee after the BBJ solicits nominations from the business community. Each year, the selection process gets more difficult as the quality of the nominations climbs. As in other years, 2007 honorees represent a broad spectrum of the Boston business community.

After graduating from UMass Amherst, Solt earned her law degree from Harvard Law School, cum laude, in 1995. She was named a “Super Lawyer – Rising Star” by Boston Magazine in 2006 and 2007. She also has been recognized as a leading attorney in her field by Chambers USA in 2006 and 2007.

Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP is a leading law firm with nationally recognized practices in private equity, business and technology, litigation, intellectual property, wealth management, and insurance/reinsurance. The firm’s clients range from Fortune 100 companies to leading venture capital and buyout funds to technology startups.
