SMITH BARNEY FINANCIAL SERVICES

About the internship: Students will work with UMass Amherst alumnus, Ronald Grasso, Jr. ’92. Grasso runs a private wealth management office at Smith Barney in Boston that focuses on the accumulation, preservation and ultimate distribution of wealth for his clients. PIPER JAFFRAY TECHNOLOGY INVESTMENT BANKING
Summer 2008 Internship Opportunity

About the internship: Piper Jaffray's Investment Banking group hires college juniors for its Summer Analyst program. Summer Analysts generally work ten to twelve weeks within an industry or product group in Technology Investment Banking and have the opportunity to learn financial modeling and basic analysis of companies and industries, as well as gain an understanding of the dynamics of the capital markets. These positions are available in the San Francisco Bay area. This is a paid position. To be eligible for this internship, students must have completed their junior year in college and be graduating in December 2008 or spring 2009. They must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Interested candidates should log on to the UMASS eRecruiting site at http://umass.erecruiting.com. Your username will be UMA plus your SPIRE NUMBER; the password is just your SPIRE NUMBER. Your application will include a resume and a cover letter which, in one page, will address the following question: "Succinctly describe why you would be a good candidate for this internship in the Technology Investment Banking group at Piper Jaffray. What makes you stand out from the other candidates who want this internship? Why would you be interested in a career in investment banking?"

MASSACHUSETTS BANKERS ASSOCIATION
The 2008 Financial Literacy Internship Education Program
Application deadline: November 15, 2007
The Massachusetts Bankers Association (MBA) and all 210 banks across Massachusetts are pleased to partner with the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) in offering a paid internship with potential academic credit for the Spring 2008 semester. MBA is looking for 2-3 students to develop programs on campus to help their fellow students understand basic financial literacy. The students will meet with bankers for two sessions early in the spring semester to become trained in financial literacy issues and obtain resource materials for use in their programs. All have had alumni connections and several have resulted in full-time hires after graduation.
