Employment Program

     Provided that they meet certain requirements, all student-athletes can work during the academic year. Student-athletes are eligible to earn up to the cost of a full grant-in-aid, plus $2,000 during each academic year.

Full Scholarship Athletes

  • must receive permission from Director of Student-Athlete Employment (250A Boyden) prior to the commencement of employment;
  • are limited to $2,000 in earnings;
  • must have completed one academic year at UMass;
  • must be academically eligible for competition;
  • cannot work in the athletic department.

Non-Scholarship and Partial Scholarship Athletes

  • can earn up to the cost of a full scholarship plus $2,000;
  • can work during the first year of residence at UMass;
  • must report all employment to the Compliance Office (210 Boyden);
  • can work in athletic department.
