Conference Membership

     As an NCAA Division I institution, UMass athletic teams compete in five different conferences, with 18 teams calling the Atlantic 10 home.

• UMass was a charter member in the Atlantic 10 Conference. UMass competes for A-10 titles in 18 sports (all sports except men’s ice hockey, men’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s skiing). Field hockey also faces West Chester in A-10 competition.
• Minuteman Football competes in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference.
• The Minuteman ice hockey team is a member of Hockey East.
• The men’s lacrosse team competes in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
• The UMass men’s and women’s ski teams are members of the U.S. College Ski Conference.
