Semester Checklists

Fall

_____ Finalize class schedule by the last day of Add/Drop.
_____ Obtain all the required books for every class.
_____ Write out and post a weekly schedule for myself. This timetable includes class, study, practice/game times.
_____ Acquire a separate and workable notebook for each class. This notebook has a place for the course syllabus, handouts, to note assignments, flexibility to add or recopy notes without interrupting the proper sequence.
_____ Become familiar with the name of every teacher I have this semester and know the location of his/her office. Know the location of his/her office, campus phone number and office hours.
_____ Inform all instructors of days I will be missing class due to competition and present them with a class excuse form.
_____ Obtain a UMass e-mail account or another email account in order to correspond with professors, etc.
_____ Know my academic advisor in both my major as well as Student-Athlete Services and, if necessary, have scheduled a meeting with her/him.
_____ If this is my first semester on campus, visit the library at least once and familiarize myself with how to use it.

Spring

_____ Finalize class schedule by the last day of Add/Drop.
_____ Obtain all required books for every class.
_____ Write out and post a weekly schedule. This timetable includes class, study, practice/game times.
_____ Organize a separate and workable notebook for each class. This notebook has a place for handouts, a place to note assignments, flexibility to add or recopy notes without interrupting the proper sequence and a place to keep the course syllabus.
_____ Become familiar with the name of every teacher I have this semester. Know the location of his/her office, campus phone number and office hours.
_____ Inform all instructors of days I will be missing class due to competition and present them with a class excuse form.
_____ If necessary, schedule a meeting with my academic advisor.
_____ By the end of the semester I will have passed 24 credits for the year or I have made plans to attend summer school this summer.
_____ If this is the end of my fourth semester in school I am enrolled in a degree granting major or will be by the beginning of the fall semester.
