SADRI

Social and Demographic Research Institute

Services

Services offered by SADRI include Data and Technical, Grant and Research Support, Human Subject Review, Data Archving, and the Population Certificate Program.

SADRI has grants administration and computer staff that serve primarily to support sponsored research within the institute and secondarily to assist in research start-up needs throughout the college; details are provided on the other pages on this site.

To support the data needs of university faculty, SADRI serves as the point of contact for the university's membership in the International Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). SADRI was a founding member of the Massachusetts Federation of ICPSR, which now annually provides thousands of data sets to faculty and students from Amherst College the College of the Holy Cross, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, and UMass Dartmouth. In one recent year the Massachusetts Federation was the fourth-largest user of the ICPSR archives in the country. Access to ICSPR data saves Federation faculty hundreds of thousands of dollars in data acquisition.

To support the research needs of our neighbors and to provide hands-on training for students, SADRI's Local Community Research Group (LCRG) offers agencies and nonprofits consulting and contractual research services at low cost through pairing established research faculty with a team of graduate student researchers. This arrangement provides affordable research services to local community groups and active applied research training to graduate students.
