Planning Your Visit

Welcome!

We are delighted to have you visit the UMass Amherst campus for the Summer Adoption Research Institute. In order to prepare for your arrival, we have created a list of all the information you need to plan for your visit including hotel information, travel directions, parking, and many other helpful resources.

Traveling to UMass Amherst

The Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts is located in western Massachusetts, which is approximately two hours west of Boston. The closest airport to campus is Bradley International Airport (BDL) located in Windsor Locks, CT. The University is close to major highways, including Interstate routes 90 and 91. UMass Amherst has an extensive Visitors Gateway site that includes detailed information such as directions, parking locations, campus maps and area lodging. We have also created our own Travel Guide that will help you find your way to UMass—whether you will be traveling by plane, train, bus or car. Accommodations

For your convenience, we recommend that attendees stay in on-campus accommodations due to the close proximity to the workshop location. Participants have the following two options for on-campus accommodations:

  • Hotel UMass - Guests may reserve a room at the hotel located on campus. A discounted rate will be offered by using code RA22C and booking prior to April 22, 2022. Room rates are as follows: Sunday, May 22, 2022 - $269.00, Monday, May 23 - Thursday, May 26, 2022 - $159.00 per night
  • North Residences Dormitory Style Accommodations - For $60.00 a night, participants can reserve a room in an apartment-style suite with four bedrooms and a shared living space with a kitchen. You may bring your own linens or purchase set for the week for an additional flat rate of $12.00. Reservations should be made by May, 6, 2022.

Covid-19 Safety Protocols

The University expects indoor event attendees to be vaccinated or have a negative COVID‐19 test taken within 72 hours of the event.
