The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research
The V Foundation
is a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find
a cure for cancer. The Foundation seeks to make a difference by generating
broad-based support for cancer research and by creating an urgent awareness
among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer. The Foundation
performs these dual roles through advocacy, education, fundraising, and
Whether its a friend that's fighting cancer, a friend's family member, your own family member or even you yourself, we are all affected by cancer. Delta Chi is proud to partner with the Jimmy V Foundation in its efforts to raise awareness and raise money to help fund the research that will, one day, yield the cure for cancer.
In addition to the Jimmy V Foundation, UMass Delta Chi participates in all-greek philanthropy events, including UDance and Relay for Life.
UDance to support Children's Miracle Network
Delta Chi, along with the rest of UMass Greek Life, participates in UDance.
Founded in 2006 by the Fraternities and Sororities, UDance is a 12 hour
fundraising dance marathon. It combines music, food, dancing, performances,
prizes and much more to create a fun environment that raises money to help
support our local Children's Miracle Network hospital, Baystate Children's
Hospital. UDance is a student-run event, run by a Steering Committee composed
of members of the different Fraternities and Sororities on campus.
For more information on UDance, contact co-chairs Amanda Almieda (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Nicole Stewart (email@example.com) or visit Udance.org
Relay for Life
In the spring, during the closing weekend of Greek Week, UMass Greeks join the rest of the Five College community in supporting and participating in the Five College Relay for Life at Amherst College's Pratt Field. Relay for Life is an overnight event where countless teams come together, each with at least one member walking the the track at all times. Teams camp out and have a great time, all while raising money in support of the American Cancer Society.
