The site has changed to reflect the RSO's new identity as HEMAC, while our now-parent organization, ARMS, gains a site of its own. HEMAC remains devoted to organizing student WMA activities at UMass, while ARMS will oversee research and interpretative work.
Physical practices will henceforth be held in the wrestling room in Boyden Gym. They will be on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 4 to 6 PM (the Friday session is moved to Saturday).
ARMS will be delivering a demonstration and brief talk on historical swordsmanship at the UMass History department's “Spheres of Power” conference. The conference runs all day, October 22 in Hasbrouk Laboratory. ARMS will be demonstrating at 11:30 AM.
The Raymond J. Lord Collection of historical combat treatises is officially online. In Association with the Massachusetts Center for Renaissance Studies, the Collection provides digital copies of historical combat manuals for public use.
ARMS has begun work for the semester. An introductory meeting for new members will be held Friday, September 23, at 5 PM at the main entrance of Boyden Gymnasium (the side facing the soccer fields).
ARMS will be resuming its work very shortly, with general meetings beginning sometime this month—please check back soon for details.
