Massachusetts Alpha Local History

Sigma Phi Epsilon Founded on November 1, 1901 in Richmond Virginia Massachusetts Alpha was founded on April 27, 1912  and has been on the UMass campus ever since. The picture below is of the early house on Chestnut Street (years unknown...) This house was rebuilt by Mass Alpha and has recently been converted into a nursing home.

Our current house is on Olympia Dr, next to Chi Omega Sorority which resides next to university admissions. We moved into this house in the early 1990's and have been here  since. The new house is very large and can hold up to 54 members of the fraternity. It is the largest fraternity facility at UMass, and is fitting for the largest fraternity at UMass. With over 1500 Mass Alpha alumni it serves as a home for those who have since graduated.
