Club History
(Below is a brief history of the state's best College Republican Club)
The UMass Amherst Republican Club was founded in 1978. Throughout the years, the Republican Club has been the main - if not only - Republican and Conservative voice on campus. The club has brought in many high-profile speakers including Ben Stein, Dinesh D’Souza, David Horowitz, Chief Justice Roy Moore, and quite recently, author Mike Adams and the First Lady of Conservatism, Phyllis Schlafly.
Founded as a small group to combat the prevailing Radical Left orthodoxy in Amherst, the UMass Republican Club has proudly and passionately advanced its pro-military, pro-America, limited government, and free-market message over the last 3 decades.
As a true testament to the kind of men and women that this Club calls members, over the course of our many active years, quite a few of our Club members have gone onto successful legal, business, and political careers.
As it positions itself in 2008 to help the MassGOP to get more conservatives elected to Beacon Hill and ensure John McCain secures the White House in the November Presidential Election, The UMASS REPUBLICAN CLUB stays vigilant and active on campus and, as a mark of its patriotism, ROUTINELY Holds American Flag Displays on the Student Union lawn to celebrate the sacrifice, dignity, and bravery of our heroic men and women in uniform.
In the past 2 semesters alone, the UMASS REPUBLICAN CLUB - widely recogized as the most passionate, most active, and overall best college republican chapter in the state of Massachusetts - has brought conservative luminaries Phyllis Schlafly (10.3.2007), Jonah Goldberg (12.12.2007), and Dinesh D'Souza (04.01.2008) to UMASS-AMHERST for lectures.
We would like to specifically recognize the following donors, supporters, and alumni, whose continued commitment and generosity allow this Club to carry on a legacy of conservative activism and relentless patriotism.
