UMOC Hiking and Backpacking

Hiking is a frequent activity that UMOC engages in. It is also an excellent way for newcomers to get involved with the club! There are many great places to hike that are just a hop skip and jump away from UMass. There are also many great places around our cabin in New Hampshire. We do all kinds of hikes for people with all different abilities. There are easy hikes to Mt. Sugarloaf and Mt. Norwottuck. There are hiking and camping trips to more rigourous places such as Mt. Washington and Mt. Monadnock. If you're interested in longer trips a number of backpacking trips go out during the year to the Appalachian and White Mountains.

Tuesday Night Hikes

Another long standing and popular hiking activity is Tuesday Night Hikes. UMOC'er and club faculty adviser Bill Verts takes time most Tuesday evenings throughout the spring and summer to lead a pleasant hike around any of the many great local hiking spots in the area here.
