Every fall and spring the club embarks on a number of canoeing trips (led by Al Howecraft). Most of these are day trips to places such as the Connecticut River or the Deerfield River to name a few. Traditionally there have been longer trips as well to places such as the Everglades in Florida or the Rio Grande in Texas. One of the more manic trips that UMOC does is the Connecticut River Challenge. We start from the Canadian border and attempt to canoe as far as possible down the Connecticut River, paddling for three days straight, day and night.
