The Grotto

When I was in high school and got into the Rave scene The Grotto was the first club I became a resident of.  At that time it was a small little shack that had a Techno night every week.  It wasn't exactly a big city club or anything but it did cause me to lose a lot of sleep on school nights.  Today the Grotto has built itself up with quite the reputation.  It's bigger and brighter than ever and is a strong supporter to the Gay/Lesbian community.  The Grotto definitely knows how to party.

Club Metro

I've been going to Club Metro steady since it first opened.  For a while it had regular Raves which were actually quite fun but after a while they stopped having them.  The Metro definitely has more of a big city feel then the Grotto, but that tends to show in admission costs. The big thing for me now is Goth night at the Metro.  It's fun but expensive, especially if your under 21. Don't rush to the conclusion that they are just trying to rip you off though.  I know for a fact that Goth night is not a big money maker and has come very close several times to being shut down but is kept running by management because they have their heart in it.  Still it's a good Idea to look for advertisements and see if there's a night that's got your style of music then look for deals.  Being 21 or getting in before 10pm can cut down entry fees or cut them altogether! Same goes for most clubs though.

Bowling Alley

Across from Club Metro on Pleasant street is the best bowling alley in the area. Check out Disco Bowling some time!

VFW

Not exactly a typical hang out, but then again This list is for Mutants. Little known, this place obviously caters to the older crowd (I'd recommend somewhere else if your not over 21).  The VFW has a bar and holds a much coveted Karaoke night! Not to mention some of the coolest elder folk around I'm sure it would be worth your while to strike up a conversation and be friendly with this crowd.

Tea Hut/ Smith Field

Behind smith is a track field which is big and open.  At night time it's a great time to enjoy some quiet and relax with friends.  I especially enjoy lying down in the middle of the field at night looking at the sky with no trees or anything in my peripheral vision and visualizing the fact that I'm not being pushed down on a flat surface but that I'm stuck to the side of a giant sphere floating in endless vacuum.  If you do it right you begin to gain the sensation you get when you are stuck to the wall of the Rotor in Riverside Park (or any spinning ride in an amusement park).    There is also a little tea hut in the woods nearby which you can sit in and enjoy nature.
