The UMass Theatre Guild dedicates this show to the loving memory of Dr. Doric J. Alviani (1913-1996). Dr. Alviani served as professor emeritus of music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and founded the Fine Arts Department. In 1938 Dr. Alviani also founded the UMass Operetta Guild, which has transcended to what is today known as the UMass Theatre Guild. Dr. Alviani served as a model for student-initiated artistic endeavors, and lives in our hearts as we live through our art. His legacy here in the thatre arts is indeed far reaching, and we shall never forget his motivation, inspiration, and dedication to our craft.

   The Department of Music and Dance is working to create an endowment for the Doric Alviani Award which is presented annually to an outstanding graduating senior in the field of music education.
