Minutes for April 2, 1997

Regular Meeting: Campus Center Basement University of Massachusetts Circle K Members present: Suzanne Harnois, Robert Skrinyaz, Corinne Lesieur, Jennifer St. Sauveur, Katerina Zervas, Melissa Bell, Erin Bertischy, Aimee Charlebois, Aaron Smith, and Leslie Steinman. Plus! Possible new member Mary Kelly.
Minutes: This was our first meeting with the new staff -- Suzanne as president, Rob as vice president, Corinne as treasurer (again), Katerina as editor and my bad self as secretary. We have a quest with us today. Mary Kelly. She is a sophmore here at Umass and found out about us vie the RSO office. We all went around the circle of K and introduced ourselves and gave a little info about our bad selves. We then launced into a mega meeting. Rob talked about all the different commitee chairs and how people need to submit an application for the position. It should include what position they would like and why, plus a little ditty on what they could add to the position.
1)Finance Chair--raises money and has to help Corinne to keep the books balanced.
2)Service Chair--calls many many people asking if they need help. Needs to be good with people and like to use the horn because that's what they will primarily doing!
3)MRDR Chair-- this stands for member recruitment something something. (I would have asked Corinne but she is really tired right now and trying to take a map!). Basically this person is to try and get people to join Circle K via flyers tables in ye old campus center and basically get the word our about us. You also need to like Katerina because you will have to spend some quality time with her! It's pretty easy. She's really nice although be careful! She may leave some of her "uniforms" at your house. And we all know what those are -- wink wink.
4)K-Family--need to have a car moped or very fast bike because you will have to go many places! This person is responsible for keeping the lines o communication open between us and Kiwanis and Key Club.

Corinne then stepped up to bat, and talked about the bike raffle(won by Aimee) and the credit card thing. She is very annoyed that the credit card people haven't gotten back to us as to how much we all make! We do know that the bike raffle was a success. We had 280 tickets sold. and made $132 from it! Aimee does not have the bike as yet so we haven't seen it. But, hopefully when she does she'll bring it to show and tell. Corinne also said we have the fee account with Campus Copies (which I just found out is located on the second floor of the student union.!) for $75 dollars. The people who are allowed to copy there are Corinne, Katerina and yours truly. As for the credit card sham, I mean fund raiser, Tashamma will hopefully find out and let us know! Our sources at her current place of residence tell us that she received a phone message from a woman who is supposed to tell her the good news. Cross your fingers!

We then reviewed the monthly fund-raisers -- starting with April and the "baked" sale. Rob says it is okay with his pot smoking sources and Corinne is going to ask for donations from the big Y, Victory, etc. It is on Into Amherst Day and Mo sent her suggestion via Suzanne that we could make hemp bracelets as well. Apparently Mo has a lot of hemp that we can use. I hope someone knows how to make those! Corinne also added our money news is coming on April 15. Appealingon the 16th if it doesn't go well. As for weekly service projects. Suzanne has a meeting with the Amherst Family Center on Thrusday at 11am. So she will have lots to tell us at the next meeting!

We are going to have office hours in our office! Go figure. Everyone submitted what times they had available. and Suzanne is going to try and figure it out so we can have someone there a lot of the time to answer questions, work on Circle K stuff, and prank call or draw. I am still unsure if being in the office counts as service hours so I will have to pause now and ask. (Insert Pause here) Thank you. The key is going to go into a locker that we will all know the combination to. Then, that key goes to a safe that is in another locker (with a combination/key combo) we will all know the combination to and then in the safe is a small paper with a 100 digit code on it. That code goes to a box in a desk drawer in the RSO office that has a combination lock which we will all know the combination to. Then in that box is the key to the office. This way, everyone will have easy access to the office and we won't have to worry about problems. Just Kidding! Really, the key is going to be in a combination locker which we will all know the combination to. :) [If the combination is mentioned at a meeting it will be ommited from the minutes. We are such a high security bunch. NOT.]

Installation is still in the works. Who knows when we will be official. I would really like my magic pin so I can wear it all the time. But maybe someday. *sigh* We will worrk on having different people attend Kiwanis Meetings. That will be figured out with the K-Family chair person I think. At this point, I gathered service hours for my monthly report. I am so proud of everyone! We really are raking in the points if you add it all together! Side note, the service hours do not go by individuals, it is a team effort. But, thanks to everyone! We are so cool.

The Key Club Convention is this weekend. But by the time I read these minutes, we will have already gone and so we can tell you about it in the meeting if we haven't already. But the official stuff is Saturday from about 11-1 pm. And that's about it from the desk of your friendly neighbor hood secretary.
