the University of Massachusetts, Amherst Circle K
19 November 1997
Regular meeting: 114 Stockbridge Hall 6:30 pm
Minutes: We had an extreemly organized meeting! It was really impressive
and cool. First we talked about the Thanksgiving basket we are giving a
family that needs it in the Amherst area. We have donations of coupons
from Stop n shop and the Big Y. I am going to go shopping for the food on
Tuesday night at 8:00 pm for anyone who would like to come with me adn
pick out stuff! Then on Wednesday at 6:00 pm myself, Aimee and Suzanne
are delivering it to our family. We also spent the meeting making picures
to decorate the box with. :) Corinne, me, Suzanne and Amy all got up to
try out the B.E.L.T.S program so everyone would know what was going on.
We are actually going to do that in the schools the week of finals: that
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So anyone who could spare an hour in the
morning should contact Andrea.
Hungar and Homeless week is this week. There is a sleep out TONIGHT
(Thrs) for anyone who would like to get pledges. You can just go and hang
or sleep the night! They have hot-coco and stuff so never fear. They set
up at 4:00 pm and it starts at 4:30pm so you could help set up or stay.
It is at the student union steps on the side near the pond. The banquet
is Monday from 4:30-5:30. You have to pay I htink $5 to get in, but you
all get either lots or a little food to show how the world is split up
with food resources. The NY trip to hand out clothes and food is the
weekend of the 5 Dec - 7 Dec. although a few people are coming back on
Saturday. You need to buy a $16 train ticket, but other than that, your
expenses for sleeping are covering with Fairfield. Talk to Suzanne for
more info. ALSO!
CALL TO EVERYONE!!! Bring back any extra hats gloves mittens scarves when
you are home to donate to the NY folks. We also then did Secret Santas
(each CK-er gets someone else and you can make them something like a card,
or buy them a small gift for our 10 Dec meeting). If you weren't there,
you need to get in touch with me to get your memeber! And that's all from
the desk of your friendly neighborhood secretary!
