some security. The soup Kitchen from 10-12 and 12-2. We are going to do
the Thanksgiving basket for a family via the Amherst Family Center.
Suzanne has already talked to Shop n' Shop and the Big Y about donations.
Rob also made a magnificent letter that we will be sending to those stores
and also to soem stores for donations for the lollipop tree.
In December there is a trip to New York City, the 6th to be exact. We are
goin gto stay overnight with Fairfield and Sacred Heart. They have a
clothing drive and food drive and what we do is go into New York and give
the goods to homeless and needy people. Also on December 10th we are
going to have our member induction. The "meeting" is not going to be just
a meeting, we are also going to have a pot-luck dinner and the Kiwanians
are going to be there as well. As for service projects, we are going to
have a giving tree in December. This is where we take present ideas from
children and go buy them ourselves. We then go to their Christmas party
to give them the rpesents ourselves. Then for the lollipop tree, Corinne
Andrea and Laura are going to work on a list of shops that we can send
Rob's letter to for donations. Each member is going to be responsible for
a certain amount of donations.
Aimee then talked about the year of service and how we all need to
continue doing service during the holidays. We are achieving our service
goal so far this year. Andrea talked about B.E.L.T.S. which is coming
soon to a school near you! That is going to rock. What we do is go into
the schools and talk about wearing seatbelts. It is remarkable andmakes a
huge difference to those kids. we are almost up to our $1,000.00 goal for
KPTI!!! We rock da house! Let me tell you...we are also going to buy a
new gavel for the Kiwanians for Christmas...and in fact, Corinne has
already ordered it with a band too! And last but not least, the CKI
society of distinguished collegians need their applications by December
1st. There is also an award for service stuff too. The requirements are:
over 250 hours of service, been in CKI for at least a year, and a GPA of
3.5 or higher. And that's all from the desk of your friendly neighborhood
secretary!
