Minutes for 8 October 1997

University of Massachusetts Amherst Circle K Regular Meeting: 114 Stockbridge hall

First of all, it was Katerina's 21st Birthday!!! Aimee was nice enough to make a cake for her and everything! It was great and she was very surprised, but that was at the end of meeting, let me start at the very beginning...a very good place to start...when you read you begin with A-B-C when you sing you begin with Do Re Me...Anyways, first I read the mintues and then Corinne spoke about the Apple Harvest! Things really went well or so they said - except for Andy begin stung by a bee! But Heather did the food and helped with the mini-golf. Dawn did kids games and Corinne had to do the dirty work. The Amherst family people were very greatful and thankful! Andrea and Suzanne talked about the UMass Darthmouth Zoo trip. Andrea's mom even went! Woah, Circle K, bringing families together! Andrea had a great time except for some bratty girl who ate leaves and berries.

Suzanne collected more Interneck forms and we have at least eight people going! Woho! I think I am going to drive in the tank with everyone and Aimee is leaving early. Speaking of which, I just checked the levels on the tank and everything seems a-okay. My dad is really anal about that whole "chekcing the levels" thing. He taught me how to do that, but not how to change a tire! Which would have come in handy last year when Corinne and I got stuck in the blizzard of '97 and got a flat in the middle of the highway on the way back to good ol UMass. Ask us about that one another time...Stephanie and Aimee went to Wildwood this week and said it's great and that they had a good time. They get to help out with arts and crafts and snacks!!! I remember having snacks like gram crackers and milk. Man, I can't remember the last time I had gram crackers, unless you count when I have it in my DC meals like on the top of the desserts? BUT if you are interested in going to Wildwood school and helping out Monday through Thrusdays, contact Aimee and then you need to speak with Scott.

Painting-the-windows-in-the-town-of-Amherst thing is this weekend (Saturday). They need peopoe to supervise the wee folk of Amherst from 8:15 am to 1:00 pm. The ABC walk is also that Saturday. It is a walk to raise money for the A Better Chance home. ABC, it's easy as 123...It was really cool when Rob, Aimeee and I did that last year! A nice excuse to leaf peep. I love that word peep! Go ahead, say it outloud to yourself! PEEP!!! Face painting the pumpkins for the old folks home is this coming week at the meeting...so bring a friends to paint for old people! The Animal Shelter is going to be every Friday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Contact Aimee if you are interested. KPTI day is the weekend of November 1st. We will be visitng Salem that Friday night (which is Halloween!) Cool. Lots of fun and scary witch-like things. There will be a dance on Saturday night too. We may have a bike Rodeo at UMass sometime in November, but more info to come about that bad boy.

Katerina has a friend who wants to donate us six big ones every month as his charity donation. Cool. Rob introduced the Committee chairs and then we talked about convention. Suzanne thinks our club should host convention this year. We voted and it lost, but she decided to have a committee try to come up with a proposal to present at the next meeting to vote on again. Also, if I may add a little anecdote in here, Rob and I went and spoke to a couple of floors in Brown (Slyvan) as an RA thing. It was awesome! All the people there were very intereseted and all we did was tell the truth! We have a lot of new and excited members eager to help us out and possibly to join! I think that we should do more things like this becasue it is a great way to get our name out there and to tell people what we are and what we do! : ) I think everyone would have been proud. In any case, that is all from the desk of your friendly neighborhood secretary.
