Non-violent direct action training March 23

March 23, 2019 - 9:30am to 5:00pm
The Churches at Island Pond, 455 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA USA
Nonviolent direct action training is essential to movement building. It provides a basic foundation about the tenets and history of nonviolence, nonviolent action, community building, understanding the legal process, democratic decision-making using consensus, and creating affinity groups for mutual support. We will reflect on how white privilege and the lack of it, health issues, immigration status, employment situations, and other considerations impact the risk factors when considering whether (or not) to engage in civil disobedience/risking arrest. Activities will be participatory and will include a role play. Everyone is welcome and participants are expected to stay for the entire workshop.
