For the Record: Understanding and Responding to Climate Change

The image above shows an up close view of an iceberg that has just broken off from a glacier. UMass Amherst is home to two climate centers and a large cadre of climate experts who are addressing the full range of climate issues, from understanding climate systems and global change to designing adaptation measures. The new Northeast Climate Science Center is developing scientific information, tools, and techniques that managers can use to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate change in the Northeast region. The Climate System Research Center focuses on the climate system, climatic variability and global change, from contemporary climate variations, their causes and consequences, to paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes.
