Process and Practice: Designing the Built Environment

The image above shows a detail in a staircase designed by UMass Amherst architect and designer Kathleen Lugosch (Architecture+Design). Lugosch has recently been inducted into Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects and is the recipient of a 2013 Women in Design Award of Excellence from the Boston Society of Architects for her notable contributions to the field. Among these, Lugosch played a leading role in developing the only professional, accredited architecture program at a public university in New England. The program has the distinction of being the architecture program with the highest proportion of female professors of any university in New England and perhaps the country. Learn More.
