In this image taken in the College of Natural Sciences new greenhouses, a member of the Schnell research team clamps a tobacco leaf between a Li-cor portable photosynthesis system to measure how efficiently the plant is undergoing photosynthesis. The greenhouse complex is a $10.8 million, 15,000 square foot facility designed for cutting-edge plant research complete with two laboratories, a growth chamber, and numerous rooms for teaching and research. Biochemist Danny Schnell and his TIMBR colleagues are using the new facility in their latest research to develop plant seed oils to create sustainable biofuels. Learn more.
