A Ugandan boy looks on curiously as researchers scope out this old radio building as a potential home for Teso University – a school for ecological studies and sustainable technologies that UMass researchers are working to create with NGO Pilgrim Africa. The new university will serve the people of northeastern Uganda and will be a space to promote ideas for addressing the region’s complex environmental issues.
