A black light in the laboratory of the Venkatarman research group demonstrates how UMass Amherst researchers are synthesizing “power” polymers that can harness energy and release it (or ‘waste’ it) in the form of fluorescent light. The Barnes/Venkatarman research group has developed new methods and processes key to improved photovoltaic photoconversion efficiencies. This research is part of the PHaSE Center (Polymer-Based Materials for Harvesting Solar Energy) where researchers are conducting cutting edge photovoltaic research to design the next generation of photovoltaic devices.
