IBM-Google pilot -- Anyone Interested?
Google and IBM announced an initiative in October on Cloud Computing, which aims to help university students and researchers address the challenges of developing internet-scale applications based on open standards and new software methods. We have an ISOM alumn who is intersted in nominating UMass to participate as this project expands beyond the initial pilot schools. Pilot status means free resources and support. Please contact Karen Hayes khayes@research.umass.edu, 5-9586 if you are interested. External Link powerpoint description |

The referenced article is from the May 2007 issue of, "Business Facilities." It's relevant to the conversations we often have around industry-university relations. Folks from the Research Area are participating in the Government-University-Research Roundtable, too.
And, just because UMass Amherst is not on this list, don't be discouraged. Hopefully, the ILN will help us develop the climate and practices that will get the campus higher on "the list."
The article is titled, "Top University-Industry Partnerships," and is available at http://www.businessfacilities.com/bf_07_05_feature1.php |
